First Annual Palmetto House Proam Successful Despite the Rain!
.June 4, 2006. Summerville, SC. Under the direction of Tom Hart, and with the assistance of dedicated volunteers, the First Annual Palmetto House Proam Tennis Tournament was very successful.
Much needed rains fell for much of the weekend of June 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, but the weather did not dampen the enthusiasm of participants and attendees.
Over $9,000 was netted for the Palmetto House, Dorchester County's homeless shelter. Even without match play, attendees enjoyed a great social on Friday evening, a wonderful dinner on Saturday evening, and the opportunity to participate in an auction.
The skies cleared just enough on Sunday for the men, the ladies and the pros to get in a few sets. All in all, it was a great weekend.
The Palmetto House wants to thank Tom Hart for his unselfishness in conceiving the event, the volunteers from Legend Oaks who gave so freely of their time, the corporate sponsors, and Barbara Heddinger who developed and managed the media and publicity program for the event.
